Tresor Competition competes with determination in Barcelona’s final round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup 2023.

October 2, 2023

02.10.2023 - Tresor Competition demonstrated its worth during the weekend in Barcelona, the final round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup 2023, where the team concluded with fifth place in the drivers' standings, fourth in the team standings, and third in the Silver Cup.

The Italian team fielded three Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II cars entrusted to Mattia Drudi (RSM), Ricardo Feller (CH) and Dennis Marschall (GER) with #40 in the Orange 1 livery, Lorenzo Patrese (ITA), Pietro Delli Guanti (ITA) and Alex Aka (GER) with #99 in the San Lorenzo livery, and Andrey Mukovoz, Dylan Pereira (LUX) and Christopher Zöchling (A) with #66 in the IWS livery.

The competitive field with over 50 teams on the track was intense, and the Tresor Competition drivers found the right rhythm during free practice. In qualifying, the #40 car finished in twelfth place with a combined performance of 1'40.010s, while the #99 secured fourth place in the Silver Cup with an average time of 1'40.772s. The #66 took the twelfth position in the Bronze Cup, closing qualifying with a time of 1'41.438s.

Marschall started on the #40 challenger, recovering several positions before handing over the car to Drudi, who engaged in an exciting duel with Sheldon Van Der Linde. Following this thrilling head-to-head, the Italian driver handed over the car to Feller, who unfortunately had to retire during the early part of his stint due to an engine issue. Considering this result, Drudi-Feller-Marschall finished fifth in the Endurance Cup drivers' standings with 47 points.

Meanwhile, the #99 car was in contention for a Silver Cup podium. Delli Guanti had an excellent first stint, but an issue during the pit stop before Patrese's turn cost them around 1 minute. This gap affected the team's performance, and Aka took the wheel in the final hour. The car crossed the finish line in fifth place in its category, lamenting a missed opportunity for a podium. Third place in the class standings was a reward for a season well-managed by the young drivers.

The weekend was more challenging for the #66 lineup, which started from a lower position. Despite the excellent efforts of Mukovoz, Zöchling and Pereira, who took turns at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, they finished in thirteenth place in their category.

Ferdinando Geri (Team Principal):
“We are very pleased with the third place achieved by Patrese, Delli Guanti and Aka in the Silver Cup, a result that validates our choice to focus on young talents despite the race being influenced by the first pit stop. We regret the retirement of the #40, which had a good chance of finishing the Endurance Cup season in a more advanced position and could have been crucial in securing a podium among the teams. Nevertheless, we have demonstrated our potential throughout the season and have every reason to be satisfied. It was a challenging race for the #66 car; when starting from the back, it is not always easy to make a recovery, but the drivers showcased their determination on the track”.

Tresor Competition will return to the track in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS for the final round of the Sprint Cup 2023, scheduled at Zandvoort (NL) on October 14-15.
