May 1, 2022
01.05.2022 - Tresor by CarCollection positively ended the first round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup 2022 held in Brands Hatch (GB) last weekend. The Italian outfit got to the historic British racetrack full of motivation with the two lineups made by Simon Gachet (FRA)-Christopher Haase (GER) and Mattia Drudi (ITA)-Luca Ghiotto (ITA), which displayed great talent behind the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 in two hard-fought races. In Q1, Gachet qualified the #11 car in P9 (1’22.386s) while Drudi just missed a front row start by a whisker posting the third-fastest time in 1’21.931s. In Q2, Haase was fourth in 1’21.719s, while Ghiotto qualified the #12 car in P10 (1’22.059s).Both races were run on Sunday on a dry circuit: the first in sunny conditions, while for the second race the weather was cloudy with different air and circuit temperatures. The short gaps in qualifying were mirrored in the race pace, which highlighted the high level of the championship. In race one, the #11 pairing recovered some places with Gachet first and Haase then and crossed the finish line in P7.
The #12 car had a trickier race instead and Drudi kept P3 during the first stint, while Ghiotto defended himself well in a lot of duels during the second stint. The pairing eventually crossed the finish line in P6.In race two Haase and Gachet, that exchanged behind the wheel of the #11 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 in this order, crossed the finish line in P4, getting the most of their starting position and completing a performance that deserved a podium finish.
The #12 car put in a remarkable recovery and the two drivers behind the wheel displayed all their value: Ghiotto and Drudi recovered three places and crossed the finish line in P7.Tresor by Car Collection will get back on track from 13 to 15 May for the second round of the Sprint series in Magny-Cours (FRA).
Ferdinando Geri (Team Principal):
“It has been a very tight weekend. We knew that details would have made the difference in the Sprint Series, but on the track it has been a breath-taking challenge, there were no moments to catch a breath and I am really happy about the approach that the whole team, from engineers to drivers, had. We have a great pace, we are close to the top and highly resolute to get closer and closer to our rivals starting from the next race”.
