Extraordinary performance by Tresor Competition at Brands Hatch

May 14, 2023

14.05.2023 - Two victories, one second place and one fifth place are the excellent results achieved by Tresor Competition at the end of the weekend at the Brands Hatch circuit (GB), which hosted the opening round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup 2023.

The Italian team converted their determination into a top-level performance with both Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II cars: the #40 car driven by Mattia Drudi (ITA) and Ricardo Feller (CH) representing Tresor Orange1, and the #99 car entered in the Silver category with Alex Aka (GER) and Lorenzo Patrese (ITA) behind the wheel for Tresor Attempto Racing.

Right from the free practice sessions, the team did a great job adapting the setups to the unique British circuit, famous for its hilly layout and fast sections through the woods. In Q1, Drudi brought the #40 car to fourth place with an excellent time of 1'22.825s, while Aka secured the Silver pole position with a time of 1'23.215s, which was the ninth overall. In the tightly contested Q2, Feller posted the eighth fastest time in 1'22.397s, and Patrese set the second-fastest Silver time, stopping the clock after 1'22.758s.

Race one was quite thrilling. Drudi started in the #40 car and immediately gained a position, moving up to the third place and defending his position in the exciting opening laps. The Italian driver then set his pace during the stint and, at the opening of the pit window, the team perfectly chose the time for the stop, allowing Feller to return to track in a favourable position that enabled him to push and gain another position. The ending was electrifying, with Feller significantly reducing the gap to the leaders and only the chequered flag signalled the end of the race, preventing the crew from attempting a final assault for victory on the last lap. Nonetheless, the Tresor Orange1 car deservedly finished in second place.

The performance of car #99 was also quite impressive, with Aka managing perfectly in the first phase of the race, maintaining the lead in the Silver Cup without compromising his performance. After the pit stop, Patrese continued with determination, pursuing the objective and crossing the finish line with a splendid Silver Cup victory, narrowly missing out on a top-ten overall.

The weekend continued with race two. Feller drove the #40 car in the first stint, climbing two positions and ending his effort in sixth place. During this phase, the timing of the pit stop proved to be perfect, with Drudi taking the lead after the round of stops. Thanks to an impressive race pace, the Italian driver kept the lead and secured the first spectacular victory of the season for Tresor Orange1 at the end of 41 laps.

The race for car #90 was a bit more challenging. Patrese started with great determination but was involved in a minor contact during a restart after a safety car period, which caused slight damage to the rear of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II and slowed down his progress just minutes before the pit stop. Aka then concluded the performance in the second stint, confirming the excellent race pace of the lineup and finishing in fifth place in the Silver Cup.

Ferdinando Geri (Team Principal):
"It was an exciting weekend and both crews gave their best, with the whole team working very well. While in race one we achieved the overall podium mainly on the track thanks to the skills of the drivers, the victory in race two was the result of a fantastic team effort with a perfect strategy and pit stop for the driver change. We are very satisfied, and a big thanks go to our partners Orange1 Electric Motors, as well as San Lorenzo and Attempto Racing for managing the cars without whom aiming so high would not be possible. Leaving Brands Hatch leading both championships is an important achievement that allows us to prepare for the upcoming challenges with great enthusiasm".

Tresor Competition will return to the track from June 2nd to 5th for the 1000km of Paul Ricard, although the Crowdstrike 24 Hours test will take place at Spa-Francorchamps from May 23rd to 24th.
