An exciting comeback opens Tresor Orange1’s season in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS

April 23, 2023

23.04.2023 - A fifth place after recovering sixteen positions characterized the weekendof Monza for Tresor Competition and Orange1, who thus concluded the inaugural round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS with a good result in the Endurance Cup.

The Italian team fielded the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II #40 entrusted to Mattia Drudi(ITA), Ricardo Feller (CH) and Dennis Marshall (GER) with the livery of the new Tresor Orange1 project and the Tresor Attempto Racing #99 car with the Silver crew composed of Alex Aka (GER), Lorenzo Patrese (ITA) and Pietro Delli Guanti (ITA).

The high number of competitors, 55 cars, and the high level of competition made the weekend particularly challenging from the early stages. During the qualifying session, the performance of the #99 car was positive, as it closed in 13th position overall and on pole position in the Silver Cup after Patrese's best category time in Q1 (1'46.862s) and Delli Guanti's second-best time in Q2 (1'46.897s).

The qualifying of the #40 car was complicated instead, as it finished 21st, also due to the fact that Q3 was not disputed due to technical problems with the circuit. Feller scored a 1'47.032s in Q1, earning him 18th place, while Drudi stopped the clocks in 1'46.897s in Q2 with the 19th best performance.

The race started with an unexpected incident, with a contact involving the #99 in the very early stages with Patrese at the wheel. Unfortunately, the damage sustained by the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II did not allow the crew to continue.

At the same time, Feller, starting at the wheel of the #40 car, kept a constant and fast race pace, aware that the pace would make the difference with such a backward starting position. The Swiss driver started the recovery, continued by Marschall in the middle stint. The Tresor Orange1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II continued to climb the standings, and in the final stint, Mattia Drudi made further progress, allowing the crew to finish in fifth place, not far from the podium.

Also competing in the race was the #66 crew, which raced in the Bronze Cup as Tresor Attempto Racing with Andrey Mukovoz, Dylan Pereira (NL) and Kikko Galbiati (ITA) behind the wheel. They finished in 10th position in the category.

Ferdinando Geri (Team Principal):
“The comeback of car #40 represented our desire to emerge, demonstrating our true potential. We knew we had the pace to play a leading role, but it was not an easy weekend. The cancellation of Q3 was an unexpected setback that prevented us, as well as all our opponents, from completing the work planned for qualifying. The contact in the early stages with car #99 was an incident that voided a possible high-level result in the Silver Cup.
Despite this, we continued to give our best, and I must acknowledge that Mattia, Ricardo and Dennis did an excellent job. We scored our first points of the season, and we will continue to work to be ready to redeem ourselves in the second round, after things did not go quite right for us in this first weekend”.

Tresor Competition will be back on track next May 13-15 in Brands Hatch (GB) for the first round of the Sprint Cup.
